Small Group Sessions + Classes
guided self massage
“Rolling out” has had it’s popularity, but from what I hear and see, so many clients aren’t being as effective as they could be, and are sometimes doing themselves a disservice. In these guided self massage sessions, we use basic self massage tools to ease tension and bring balance to musculoskeletal tissues with gentle static pressure. Learning how to apply very little pressure is the essential first step, followed by listening to the body’s response, then increasing pressure as needed. These are not no pain, no gain sessions, but rather time for students to learn techniques that the body can easily receive and respond positively to.
simply a good stretching session
Often we force ourselves into stretches—in these gentle stretching sessions, we allow time for the nervous system to say yes as the body is encouraged to respond to a suggested stretch. Nothing will be forced, and we’ll discuss how sometimes it’s helpful to avoid stretching certain areas that may be already under strain, and how to bring balance to the major joints of the body.
core, hips & basic strength
Keep the basics in your routine with straightforward instruction and attention to detail in these small group strength sessions emphasizing solid core, hip and shoulder stability. We’ll also spend time squatting, hinging and working on upper body strength, with a focus on technique over difficulty. Designed for athletes who can often let these important basics go when life and training is busy, these sessions are great for anyone wanting to improve their movement quality.
foundational yoga
Working on the foundations can help you tailor a practice that makes sense for your needs, help you feel more comfort and confident as you partake in your practice, wherever you choose to get on your mat. These small group classes focus on teaching many of the postures and series of postures students are presented with in yoga classes today. As such, I help those who want to feel more confident stepping into a variety of styles of studio classes, online sessions, or those who have or want to start a home practice. These classes are for those with no experience, or those with experience who want some slower, more detailed and individualized study.
slow flow yoga
These guided sessions begin with a slow, grounding warm up and lead to sequencing that builds heat and stimulates specific muscular activation with the goal of leaving you feeling strong, balanced and centered. Postures are held for multiple breaths with slow, intentional transitions. These small group sessions are for those who ideally have at least some yoga experience, yet are slow and offer plenty of guidance for those newer to yoga.
gentle yoga
These guided gentle yoga sessions ask for less effort from you. Sequenced similarly to slow flow to begin—with slow, warming movement—we then move into longer held gentle postures and completely restful asana to calm the nervous system and connect with breath. These small group sessions are great movement as recovery for athletes or to simply for anyone wanting to emphasize calming the nervous system and are suitable for all levels are practitioners.
restorative yoga
Balancing all of the doing of our day to day, these guided restorative small group sessions are for completely restful long held postures. Setting up with many props to find support, comfort and complete relaxation is the intention of the practice. Perfect for all experience levels.
